  • No schema defined for LDAPv2, but X.500 implied

• LDAPv3 suggests:

  • X.500(1993): people and organizations
  • RFC 1274 updated: Internet-specific attributes

• Vendor-defined schema

  • Netscape, Microsoft, Novell and others

• Application and administrator-defined schema

  • For local requirements
