Rob Evans , JANET (UK) Abstract: Like most other networks, JANET, the UK's Education and Research Network, has to deal with a year-on-year growth in traffic. To achieve this, it has recently undergone an upgrade on several of its backbone links to STM-256 (40Gbit/s). This talk will describe why we chose to use STM-256 links, some of the challenges that it posed, and how they were overcome.
