Result of APRICOT2001 Selection Process.

The APRICOT2001 Selection Committee was delighted to have received two very

strong and attractive proposals to host APRICOT2001.

The two proposals were received from

1) PIKOM (the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry, Malaysia)

and MECM (Ministry of Energy, Communications and Multimedia, Malaysia) to

co-host APRICOT2001 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

2) NECTEC (National Electronics and Computer Technology Center), NSTDTA

(National Science and Technology Development Agency), the Ministry of

Science Technology and Environment, and THNIC (Thailand Network Information

Center) in Bangkok, Thailand

While each proposal had its own individual merits, the APRICOT2001

Selection Committee has decided to award APRICOT2001 to Malaysia on the

basis of a stronger 'overall' proposal.

The Selection Committee would like to extend thanks to all parties for the

time and effort involved in > preparing a detailed proposal to host APRICOT2001.

Detailed Arrangements for APRICOT2001 will be announced during APRICOT2000 in Seoul.
